Juncus inflexus Afro
I first spotted this fascinating deer-resistant Eurasian-native bog plant in England decades ago at the garden of the introducer, Joe Sharmon. Unlike the smaller corkscrew rush, Juncus 'Afro' is virtually a corkscrew rush on steroids...with dusty blue evergreen foliage! Each 2' wide clump resembles an upside-down dish of 3-day-old blue spaghetti after rigor mortis has set in. We have found this to grow equally as well in typical, even dry garden soil. We love it both as a solitary specimen as well as in a massed planting.
